Pre-Tour

June 30th- July 6th

We welcome IFMA delegates to Treaty 4 and Treaty 6 Territory in Saskatchewan for an interesting and informative Agricultural tour of Southern Saskatchewan. Our tour is designed to provide a cross sectional look at Saskatchewan, with a mix of nature, history, culture, and of course, agriculture.

Agenda & Tour Guide

The Pre-Tour starts on the morning of June 30, 2024, we recommend you arrive on June 29th in Regina, SK at the latest if you wish to attend the full Pre-tour. We will be based out of Regina, the province's Capital July 1st is Canada Day, so do not be afraid to dress in red and white, or wear your Canadian Tuxedo (sporting denim on the top and bottom).
**Prices include hotel rooms and meals, but not alcohol**

  • $2500.00 + Taxes - Pre-Congress Tour - June 29 (Arrive in Regina) - July 6 (Saskatoon) with stops in Moose Jaw, Swift Current, and Kindersley along the way.

  • 3500.00 + Taxes - Couples Pre-congress Tour.

June 29 - Saturday

Arrive in Regina, Saskatchewan - Day on your own

For those arriving on the 29th, your hotel in Regina (Double Tree) is included in the fees. Eric and Savannah will be in Regina to Welcome you and for those in town at 6 PM, we are going to Victoria's Tavern for supper and meeting the other tour attendees.

June 30 - Sunday

Day in Regina - Details to come

Day will be spent touring around the city of Regina with Eric and Savannah. The plan is to get you on Saskatchewan time. In the morning we will tour The Royal SaskatchewanMuseum, followed by lunch at Fresh Carnival. Next we will hop on the bus and head to Lumsden, SK for supper at Over the Hill Orchards and Winery. We will depart Lumsden after 9 PM.

July 1 - Monday

Canada Day

For those interested, Richard Gray (Tour Guide) will organize a scenic Nature Tour in surrounding areas east of Regina, including a small hike to Buffalo rubbing Stone and a drive through Qu’Appelle Valley. The bus will leave at 8 am. After the nature walk, you are off to Lorne Scott's Farm at Deep Lake to tour a more traditional form of farming. After lunch, you will return back to Regina for some Canada Day Celebrations and dinner at Blanco Cantina. 

July 2 - Tuesday

2nd Day Trip to Indian Head, SK

You will check out of the hotel in Regina and depart by 9 am. Before heading to Moose Jaw for the evening, you will visit the Delage Farms and Gray Family Farm (GPS Ltd). In Moose Jaw we hope to take you on a tour of the Tunnels of Moose Jaw. You will be spending one night at the Heritage Inn.

July 3 - Wednesday

2nd Day Trip to Indian Head, SK

You will check out of the hotel in Regina and depart by 9 am. Before heading to Moose Jaw for the evening, you will visit the Delage Farms and Gray Family Farm (GPS Ltd). In Moose Jaw you will be on one of two tours of the Tunnels of Moose Jaw. You will be spending one night at the Heritage Inn.

July 4 - Thursday

Travel West

On Thursday we will check out of the hotel in Moose Jaw and by 9 am load into the bus to head to Simpson Seeds, on the Service Road of Moose Jaw. Lunch will be in Moose Jaw at Bobby's Place Olde World Tavern, then one last stop at G3 Pasque (Inland grain terminal) outside of Mosse Jaw. Then it is time to head west to Swift Current. You will check into your hotel for two nights at Holiday Inn in Swift (as us local Saskies call it, or Speedy Creek), and then dine at the NightJar Diner Co

July 5 - Friday

Head North

Since Thursday is a packed day of travel, we don't hit the road till 9 am on Friday, and when we do we don't have to travel too far to get to our first stop, The Gerbrandt cow-calf operations just north of Waldeck, SK. After a few hours, it is back on to the bus to head north West to Cabri. In town, we will have lunch and head off to Kevin Hursh's pulse Farm. After the farm tour, you will return to Swift for your last night of the trip, and we are arranging supper plans for a fun evening.

July 6 - Saturday

Drive to Saskatoon

Hopefully, it has been a great week for you and you are ready to check out and head North to Saskatoon for the conference. It will be an early morning, departing at 8 am. On the way north, you will stop quickly to see Gardiner Dam, which is an important piece of infrastructure in our province to its citizens, farmers, and industry.  Next, it's off to Broderick, SK to tour Tubersome Technologies, a potato seed farm. Lastly, on this tour, you will go to Wolf Willow Winery for a long lunch, before departing for Saskatoon.

 

We should arrive in Saskatoon around 4 pm, for you to check into your hotels. This is where our tour ends. Your hotel in Saskatoon for the night of the 6th is included in your fees. Everyone's hotel has been notified. If you booked for the 6th, you will be refunded for that night and if you hadn't booked that night, we have had it added to your reservation, at no additional cost to you.
